English chemist William Hyde Wollaston discovered palladium in 1803 when he mixed platinum with nitric acid and hydrochloric acid and noticed that another element was left behind. Palladium has an atomic number of 46 on the periodic table of the elements. The majority of the world’s supply of this rare metal comes from mines located in the United States, Russia, South Africa and Canada.  In the Q4 edition we will take a close look at Palladium’s modern day uses and how it plays an integral part in the automotive industry.

Coffee is the world’s 2nd largest traded commodity. Coffee is such an important dietary staple across the world that it has spawned a staggeringly large economy of its own. Coffee roasters, packers, growers, marketers and coffee equipment manufacturers depend on the commodity as do dairy producers and restaurant operators. Coffee commodity prices, therefore, play a vital role in the global economy. The Q1 2021 edition is essential reading for those interested in the history of Coffee and its incredible evolution.

When we think of oil as a commodity, most people think Petroleum. However, Oil is not just used to power cars, trains, jets, and ships, that’s just a tiny piece of the puzzle. Oil is a major component in the manufacture of plastics, textiles, fertilizers and cosmetics Et al. Q2 2021 takes an in-depth look at the worlds most traded commodity.
